In Merlion Park
It was constructed in between 1971 and 1972 then it was completed in 1997. The Merlion statue is the official mascot of Singapore, and also known to be the most visited tourist attraction. The stature signifies a lion that Prince Sang Nila Utama saw which he later discovered Singapura or "Lion City" in 11 AD. The lion has the body of a fish which represents the roots of Singapore as the fishing village including Mer that means "sea".
